Fix our roads and infrastructure

You can’t put a price on getting home safely, and neither should the Government. Regional communities deserve roads that are properly maintained, safe to travel and built to last. We need sustained investment and local people having a genuine say in what gets fixed.

In Parliament, I’ll fight for:

• Fully-funded repairs our roads need. The Victorian Auditor-General has reported that more than $3 billion a year would be needed to maintain state road pavement at its existing condition and replace ageing assets. I’ll demand investment that matches the scale of the problem.

• Making safe maintenance the law. Legislate clear road safety standards and hold contractors accountable when they fail to meet their obligations.

• Putting local expertise back in charge. Give the people who know our roads a stronger role in deciding what needs fixing and how the work is delivered.
