Make every home a safe home

Everyone should feel safe at home and in our community.

Family violence is a local issue that needs a local response. Wodonga Police recorded 1131 incidents of family violence in the year ending June 2026. Too much of the support available is focused on crisis response, while prevention and early intervention programs remain underfunded.

We need to back the organisations already doing the work and bring our whole community together to make lasting change.

In Parliament, I’ll fight for:

  • Making family safety a local priority. Secure increased and more reliable funding for organisations including Orange Door, Centre Against Violence, Tots 2 Teens and Albury Wodonga Health, supporting prevention, early intervention and ongoing care.

  • Bringing our community together around prevention. Back a properly funded local model based on Respect Ballarat, bringing schools, sporting clubs, workplaces, health services and community organisations together.

  • Strengthening support close to home. Secure a full-time Orange Door presence in Wodonga, with stronger outreach to communities across Towong and Indigo shires.

  • Investing in lasting change. Support Respectful Relationships in every school, accessible men's behaviour-change programs without waiting lists, and an annual local report on progress.
